So for a long time, I was taking lessons on Italki. During Covid I took a Chinese lesson every day and I remember at that time I was paying around six dollars or seven dollars per hour so it was very affordable every day.
But recently, I have found the prices on Italki to be much higher. They have set a limit on the number of teachers allowed on the platform, which means there are a few are available and it allows the teachers to charge higher prices. As I understand, they actually have set some minimums for teachers. so that six or seven dollars an hour I was paying before is more like $15 per hour now.
So I recently rediscovered Preply, which is a language learning platform based out of Kyiv, Ukraine. And since I have software developers in Ukraine, I am very happy to support this company by taking a lesson every day there. It is easy to find teachers for as low as three dollars per hour. And there are plenty of teachers that are even great teachers for less than $10 per hour.
